The Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast
The Amalfi coast (Costiera Amalfitana) is a spectacular stretch of coastline situated on the southern side of the Sorrento peninsula which forms the southern edge of the Bay of Naples. The Amalfi Coast stretches from Salerno in the east to Positano in the west, and there are several well-known towns which are favourite destinations for tourists to the area. These include: Vietri sul mare, Maiori, Minori, Amalfi, Ravello and Positano.
There are ferry trips that leave Salerno and call in at several of these towns, before going on to Sorrento and Capri. There is also a spectacular mountain road called the 'Amalfi Drive' which goes between Amalfi and Sorrento. A trip along this road is extremely nerve-racking for the driver but it does provide some stunning views for the passenger.
