Italian ceramics
Italian ceramics are famous around the world for their high quality of production and design. Italy has been producing ceramics since the days of the Greeks and Etruscans, but it was during the Renaissance period that Tuscany and Umbria became famous for producing 'Maiolica' ceramics. Sicily is also an important producer of Italian ceramics, using the famous 'Baroque' techniques. But, as with all things in Italy, each region produces its own style of Italian ceramics and considers them to be the best of all!

Ceramics for the kitchen
Hand painted Italian ceramics are guaranteed to brighten up any kitchen, as well as providing useful storage. Italian ceramic storage jars come in a variety of shapes and sizes and can be used for such items as flour, sugar and salt. All of the hand painted designs can be applied to any shape or size to enable you to have a matching set of ceramic spice jars or a tea, coffee and sugar set with a pretty Italian rural scene painted on it. The domed, hand painted ceramic storage jars are not only useful but also make a very impressive ornament which could be used in the bedroom or bathroom.
Ceramics for the table
A table never looks nicer than when laid up with a selection of Italian hand painted ceramic plates, bowls, dishes and jugs. The hand painted designs vary from delicate flowers to traditional paintings of fruit, right through to rustic scenes which will remind you of your holiday in Italy. The ceramic wine jugs are always very popular and come in three sizes, the smallest one being the perfect size for two people. As well as plates and bowls there are large, unusual and very impressive, hand painted ceramic antipasti dishes.
Ceramics for the house
Hand painted Italian ceramics look good all around the house. The ceramic bowls, of different sizes, can be used for fruit, sweets and pot pourri. The hand painted plates can be used at the table but are so pretty that they can also be hung on the wall. All of the ceramic plates come with two holes in the back enabling them to be hung up as well as eaten from. Hand painted ceramic tiles can be framed and hung on walls or left unframed and incorporated into the tiling in a bathroom or kitchen.
